Blackburn holds Commencement ceremony

More than hundred students received diplomas during the 143rd commencement ceremony at Blackburn College May 12.

In total, there were 111 members of the Class of 2012 who met the requirements to graduate, though not all graduates were on hand to receive their diplomas.

Shortly after the processional and invocation, Blackburn President Mim Pride gave a few opening remarks. She expressed thanks to family and friends in attendance in support of members of this year’s graduating class.

“We know that no one arrives at this moment alone,” Pride said. She then encouraged the class to stand and have them collectively say thank you to the audience.

Senior class president Ian Andrews, an accounting major, shared his thoughts on graduation day with a speech.

Andrews said his goal growing up was to be a professional pitcher for the Chicago Cubs, though he realized early on it

    Levan named Outstanding Teacher of Year

    Judge grants plaintiff’s motion for summary judgment
